How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My magazine does represent a demographic through the conventions that are used. All the models used in my magazine are females which may make it more fitting for the female demographic and the models are off a certain ethnic background which once again subjects and represents a certain social group, because of some of these conventions the magazine does represent the intended audience because as when I done my research to find who my target audience are most of them were female and of the same ethnic background however the colours and language used through out the magazine is not audience specific because it doesn’t have any subject specific language that it is related to a certain demographic, even though the front cover model is a female the colours used in the front cover like the red is gender neutral same as the ombre background also the artist listed on the front cover are RnB artist that are like by a range of demographic groups.
DPS Analysis
- The font of the J is in Serif font which makes it seem more formal and elegant this may suggest the house style of the magazine. The font is also in the style of the logo of the magazine.
- The DPS uses a quote the effect of this is that it engages the audience as the quote gives the audience and insight to what the DPS story is about
- Drop Capitals is used in the DPS the use of this technique could be used to introduce a topic in the article
- This DPS uses a leading which is what any good DPS should have as it splits the writing into sections so it is easier for the audience to read
Double Page Spread
This is my attempt of sketching my DPS, from looking at the sketch I want the image of my model to a close up as it would engage the readers more and a close up show the emotions of the model as i want my double page spread is about getting to know the artist and about their being. I may consider a mid-shot so their mise-en-sence can be seen by the audience, I want the mise-en-sence to be original to reflect the fact that the artist is a normal person just like their audience too and it connects to the purpose of my double page spread because it is about getting to know the artist, this will allow the audience to empathis with what is going to be spoken about in the double page spread.
